6 April 2017, Geneva - The second GFMD Dialogue on the Global Compact for safe, orderly and regular migration (GCM) took place on April 6 and gathered over 180 representatives from member states, GFMD observers, civil society and private sector. The Dialogue substantiated the envisaged GFMD inputs to the scheduled stock-taking exercise for the Global Compact, to be held in Mexico in late November 2017.Read more

Geneva - On 2 February 2017, a GFMD Dialogue on the Global Compact on Migration was held under the German-Moroccan Co-Chairmanship of the GFMD. On Monday, 19 December, just a few days after the highly successful Ninth GFMD Summit held in Dhaka on 10-12 December, Germany and Morocco officially launched the GFMD 2017-2018 Co-Chairmanship at the UN Headquarters in New York. For the first time since the first GFMD in 2007 and when migration policy topics are high on the political agenda around most of the world, two countries will co-chair the process for a period of two years, beginning 1 January 2017 until end December 2018.
