The City of Oujda integrated the topic of migration as a transversal theme when it elaborated its Plan d’Action Communal (PAC) for the period of 2017 – 2022. The inhabitants of Oujda, among them Moroccan returnees, migrants and refugees benefit from this project.

A local technical team integrated citizens of Oujda in a participatory planning process. The city organized a “study day” to present the methodology for the elaboration the PAC and the different thematic commissions involved in this process. Also, the technical team shared key documents needed by the different committees, such a methodological note for the realization of the PAC. The Oujda PAC 2017-2022 was finalized at the end of January 2017, and then submitted to the permanent commissions of the City Council.

To „Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable“ (SDG 11), transparency of local decision-making is highly important. By including citizens in the process of integrating the topic of migration into the Plan d’Action Communal, the local authorities in Oujda contributed to realizing this goal.
