Statement by Mr. António Vitorino, Director General, IOM

António Vitorino has over 27 years of international and national political and academic experience, which brought him consistently in touch with the migration context.
He served as European Commissioner for Justice and Home Affairs, from 1999 to 2004. Priorto joining the European Commission, António Vitorino served as Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal, from 1995 to 1997.
Klein Solomon
Michele Klein Solomon is Director, Policy Hub, Office of the Director General, at the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The Policy Hub is designed to draw together, and deliver, policy knowledge across the Organization. The Hub is a catalyst to promote effective collection, analysis, and exchange of policy-relevant data and knowledge, and to facilitate strategic migration policy advice based on expertise from across IOM.
Thompson
Laura Thompson is the Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). She is responsible for assisting the Director General in administering and managing the Organization; conducting the political dialogue and building IOM relationships with governments, UN agencies, civil society and the private sector; as well as in defining policies, strategies and prioritised action. Prior to this position, Laura Thompson was the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Costa Rica to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva.
Vitorino
IOM Director General António Vitorino, 61 (DOB 12 January 1957), is a former European Commissioner for Justice and Home Affairs (1999-2004) and Portugal’s former Minister of the Presidency and National Defence (1995-1997). He has also enjoyed a distinguished career in Portugal as a lawyer as well as in electoral politics.
