Sek Wannamethee was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary/ Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva in March 2017. Prior to his assignment in Geneva, he was Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand from 2013-2017 and Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs from 2012-2013. Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991, Ambassador Wannamethee has served various positions at the headquarter in Bangkok and abroad, including among others, Bureau Chief of the Policy and Planning Office, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington DC, and Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Thailand to the UN in Geneva.
Ambassador Wannamethee was educated at Harrow School, United Kingdom, and graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science (United Kingdom), with a Bachelor degree in Economics and a Master’s in Economic History.
