Currently in its third phase, the ILO Safe Labour Migration Programme in Sri Lanka contributes to promote safe and regular migration through improved policies and legal frameworks related to labour migration and better service provision to migrant workers and their families.
The experiences of the planned interventions will feed and substantiate national, regional and global policy dialogue on Migration and Development. The goal of the project is to improve the protection and well-being of low-skilled labour migrants and their families in particular and thereby help to promote decent work. In order to achieve this goal, the project places the migrants’ rights at the centre of its efforts. Embedded in a rights-based approach, LMPSL aims to enable migrant families to claim their rights and access services. At the same time, it supports duty-bearers (government, private sector and civil society stakeholders) to provide improved services to the migrant community.
