The Migration Strategy 2016-2020 is the third strategic document for Georgia defining migration policy. It aims to provide a strategy to reach Georgia's migration policy goal by 2020 which is to create a legislative and institutional environment that: 

1. ensures the state‟s enhanced integration to EU
2. facilitates peaceful cohabitation of various religious, cultural and ethnic groups
3. protects migrants‟ rights and their successful integration into society
4. promotes reintegration of returned migrants and the usage of the positive economic and demographic aspects of migration for the development of the country; and 
5. increases legal migration opportunities for the citizens of Georgia
