Summary: 

In 2011 the United States of America launched IdEA - the International Diaspora Engagement Alliance - a non-profit organization managed via a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Calvert Foundation. IdEA provides a platform to foster engagement between the U.S. Government and Diaspora groups, and the private sector while promoting and supporting Diaspora-centered initiatives in entrepreneurship, volunteerism, philanthropy, diplomacy and social innovation in countries and regions of Diaspora origin or affinity. It also brings together partners from business and civil society to open opportunities for Diaspora communities to give back to their countries of origin or ancestry.
