Summary:
Thailand has developed an alien administration procedure for irregular migrant workers, in order to change their status under the following processes:
Registration of irregular migrant workers to allow them to reside temporarily in Thailand in accordance with the Cabinet resolution;
Regularizing the migrant workers’ status by the nationality verification process, carried out by their countries of origin;
Implementation in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Employment of Workers between the Royal Thai Government and the Government of the original countries namely, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar to ensure the following :
Proper procedures for employment of workers;
Effective repatriation of workers;
Due protection of workers to ensure that there is no loss of rights and protection of workers and that they receive the rights they are entitled to;
Prevention of, and effective action against, illegal border crossings, trafficking of illegal workers and illegal employment of workers.
