Created by Provision of the National Directorate of Migrations N° 3154/2020, the Area of Early Detection of Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants is in charge of identifying, and referring potential victims of family and sexual violence; holding meetings with the official agencies responsible for combating trafficking and smuggling of migrants, particularly with national, provincial and municipal security forces, in order to establish joint intervention strategies; capitalising on the experience gained by the personnel working in the agency in relation to existing resources; and promoting awareness, participation and commitment of both management and agents in addressing these issues. Its creation improved the exchange of information and coordination procedures with national and international, judicial, state, provincial police and other competent agencies, contributing to the prevention and prosecution of transnational crimes, such as the trafficking of foreign population, and seeking to promote joint activities to counteract crimes related to migrations. This policy also seeks to actively position officials in the detection of victims of human trafficking through training with a gender, childhood and human rights approach.
Since its creation to June 2023, progress has been made in the following measures: 60 cases of victims of trafficking from other national, provincial and municipal organizations were intervened; 35 DNI were issued to victims of the crime; 30 cases of trafficking were detected in the offices of our agency as a result of the training of our officials; 1300 operations were carried out, out of which 484 were for trafficking; 1712 foreigners have been surveyed, out of which 292 were in an irregular situation; there was NDM intervention in more than 35 consultations made by diplomatic representations based in Argentina.
