The Jigjiga City Administration will implement a project with two main interventions to support the livelihoods of internally displaced people and rural-urban migrants in and around Jigjiga. The first is rehabilitating dry valley production of the city’s agricultural systems, including the tree planting, water management, and infrastructure upgrading, as well as agricultural livelihoods training for IDP households. The second is participatory land planning through the development of Community Action Plans to build resilience to climate shocks for communities with a high presence of IDPs and migrants. This project is in line with the Jigjiga’s proposed project for the MMC’s Global Fund for Migrants and Refugees.
