Red Cross and Red Crescent Humanitarian Service Points (HSPs) save lives and reduce suffering along migratory routes by helping ensure that all vulnerable migrants, irrespective of legal status, can access critical humanitarian assistance. Through coordination and cooperation – based on a mutual understanding of the auxiliary role of National Societies – HSPs support States in meeting their obligations under international law, and ultimately save lives and ensure dignity. Building on the existing experience of HSPs, IFRC and Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies will partner with the Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Center for Resilience to develop the HSP model. The new partnership will see the Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Center for Resilience will share their technical and policy expertise and above all leverage contacts with government counterparts, combined with IFRC field experience working with migrants; to bring HSPs to scale.
