Summary:

Summary: The EU Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF) is a pilot project funded by the European Union’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) under the Development Cooperation Instrument. It runs from June 2019 until the end of 2023 and is implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).

Objective: EUDiF works to consolidate efforts on diaspora engagement for development. It bridges gaps between policy development and research, tests concrete modes of engagement, and creates a laboratory of innovative ideas, based on needs and priorities.

EUDiF takes a multi-stakeholder, consultative, and participatory approach so as to holistically transform interest in diaspora engagement into concrete, sustainable action through four interlinking strands of activity on knowledge, capacity development, dialogue, and diaspora expertise.

The facility’s activities include, inter alia, a global mapping of diaspora engagement, 5 case studies, 16 capacity development initiatives, consultations with the diaspora in Europe and national authorities in countries of origin, the annual flagship Future Forum and deployment of diaspora expertise.
