Summary:

Established in 2006, the NGO Committee on Migration is a committee of non-governmental organisations, which has consultative status with the ECOSOC. The Committee brings together over 50 NGOs who seek to realize justice for migrants, refugees, stateless persons, internally displaced persons, and trafficked persons.

The purpose of the Committee is to encourage the promotion and protection of migrants and their human rights by facilitating cooperation amongst its member organizations through information exchange, education and discussion; encouraging UN bodies and agencies to include migration issues in their planning; acting as a forum which raises awareness of migrantion in a human rights framework; cooperating with UN departments and agencies to raise public awareness about the rights of migrants; and recommending appropriate policies for migration issues.
