In the area of combating illegal migration, the smuggling of migrants and human trafficking, the Egyptian Government ihas implemented laws to combat trafficking and Smuggling, including Law no 64 of 2010 on Combating Trafficking in Persons and law no 82 of 2016 on Combating Illegal Migration. Egypt has also implemented programs to raise awareness regarding these crimes while focusing on the vulnerable situations confronting women and children, and the protection of victims.

In Egypt, a national coordinating committee to combat and prevent trafficking in persons was established in 2007. The committee is a consultative body for the authorities and other national institutions and makes recommendations to the Council of Ministers

Steps are being taken to draft a guiding manual is being drafted to assist Egyptian Embassies and Consulates abroad in providing support to victims of smuggling and human trafficking, and to establish the first shelter for victims of human trafficking in Egypt.
